About UnitDial

Instrument-grade unit conversion

What it is

UnitDial is a free, no-signup tool for converting between units of measurement. It covers everyday conversions as well as more specialized ones, all in a single interface designed to feel like a precision measuring instrument rather than a generic form.

What it covers

Fourteen categories in total, spanning both common and specialized units:

Imperial ⇄ Metric Length Mass Temperature Volume Speed Area Digital Storage Time Energy Pressure Angle Power Force Currency

How it works

Every conversion runs locally in your browser using standard, publicly documented conversion factors — nothing is sent to a server for length, mass, temperature, or any of the physical unit categories. The one exception is the Currency category, which fetches live exchange rates from Frankfurter, a free, open-source foreign exchange rates API sourced from central bank data. If that request fails, the converter falls back to approximate cached rates so it still works offline.

Why it exists

Most unit converters online are cluttered with intrusive ads, outdated designs, or missing categories. UnitDial was built to be fast, clean, and precise — the kind of tool you'd want bookmarked for quick reference.

Guides

Alongside the converter itself, UnitDial publishes short reference guides on common conversions — cooking measurements, temperature scales, and imperial vs. metric — for anyone who wants the context behind the numbers, not just the calculator. Browse the guides.

Feedback

UnitDial is actively maintained and new categories or units get added based on what people actually need. If something's missing or behaving oddly, get in touch.
